It gives us great pleasure to present a book on “Engineering Thermodynamics”, for the students of Mechanical Engineering from first year to final year engineering. In this book we will study basics of mechanical engineering, ideal real gases, compressors, gas turbines, jet propulsion, refrigeration and air-conditioning, heat transfer, compressors etc. Every care has been taken to present the matter in precise and simple language. Self explanatory figures are included to enable the students to draw the same in the exams very easily. From a long teaching experience, it has been observed that students commit mistakes in the units, as such, for every step in the solution of the problems, units have been made clear. To develop more confidence in students appropriate questions from various universities are given at the end of each chapter. In the entire book SI system of units is used. All the necessary care has been taken to avoid mistakes/misprints in the book. However it is quite likely that some mistakes/misprints might have been left unnoticed. Such mistakes and misprints of the book if brought to the notice will be gratefully acknowledged. Any suggestions to improve the usefulness of the book will be gratefully considered and appreciated.
